Har ki Dun Trek Itinerary

Day One Har ki Dun Trek

Dehradun – Sankri – Distance 190 Km

On the first day of the Har Ki Dun trek, you have to reach the village of Sankri, located at a distance of 190 km from Dehradun. If you are doing this trek with any tracking agency, then they will tell you about a specified place in advance. You have to reach the place mentioned by the agency on time.

It will take you 8-10 hours to reach Sankri from Dehradun by Bus. And if you are coming to Sankri by cab or shared taxi then you will reach Sankri in few hours. After reaching Sankri on the first day you can stay at a homestay or hotel. And if you are doing this trek with any tracking agency, then those people make arrangements for your stay in Sankri in advance.

Day Two Har ki Dun Trek

Sankri – Taluka (12 km motorable road) – Seema Gaon (15km trekking)

After reaching Sankri on the first day you should start the trek early the next day. During the second day trek, you have to reach Seema village from Sankri. The distance from Sankri to Seema village is 26 km, with 12 km of motorable road that takes you to the Taluka village.

You can take the help of a local jeep running from here to reach the taluka from Sankri. After a 12 km drive from Sankri, you will have to complete a 14 km trek to reach Seema village. After reaching Seema village, you can stay in the homestay built here. If you are doing this trek with a trekking agency or trek guide, then these people make arrangements for your stay in Seema village in advance.

The road from Sankri to Taluka is very beautiful. During this 12 km journey, you pass through dense forests of trees like walnut, poplar and chestnut. After that, during the foot trek from Taluka to Seema village, you pass through the river Soupin.

The track from Taluka to Seema village is easy. During the entire trek, you trek on almost flat ground, just occasionally you have to climb a little. During this 14 km long trek, you will have to pass through a bridge made of wood sometimes.

Day Three Har ki Dun Trek

Seema Village – kalkatiyadhar (06 Km Tracking) – Har Ki Dun (06 Km Tracking)

After doing the 12 km long trek for the second day, you can leave for Har Ki Dun early the next morning after taking a rest in the homestay built-in Seema village.

The distance of Har Ki Dun from Seema village is 12 km. But you can divide this 12 km into 2 parts. Located at a distance of 06 km from Seema village, kalkatiyadhar will be the first stop of your Har Ki Dun trek. After resting for some time at kalkatiyadhar, you can proceed towards Har Ki Dun.

You can see mountain ranges like Swargarohini and Bandarpuchh from kalkatiyadhar. The entire scene of Har Ki Dun trek from kalkatiyadhar changes. After trekking for 06 km from kalkatiyadhar, you reach a beautiful place like Har Ki Dun situated at the foothills of Swargarohini mountain.

By reaching here today, you can relax or you can also explore the places located around Har Ki Dun. Har Ki Dun is considered to be a very great camping site for trekkers. The river flowing in the valley enhances the beauty of this place even more.

Day Four Har ki Dun Trek

Har Ki Dun – Jaundhar Glacier and Maninda Tal

The fourth day of the Har Ki Dun trek is for you to explore this beautiful place. On this day, you can wake up early in the morning and enjoy the sunrise behind the Swargarohini mountain. Apart from this, Jaundhar Glacier, located 3 km from Har Ki Dun, can also be seen.

You can also take out time for Maninda Tal, located 3 km from Har Ki Dun. A lot of trekkers prefer to stay for 1-2 days at this place to explore the beautiful places located near Har Ki Dun.

Day Five Har ki Dun Trek

Har Ki Dun – Osla (12 Km Trekking )

On the fifth day of the Har Ki Dun trek, you leave for Dehradun. In today’s trek, you have to trek back 12 km. But in this 12 km, you do not go back to Seema village and take a new route which leads to Osla village. Osla village located in Uttarakhand is very famous for its natural beauty.

The people here are still very rich culturally. Even today, most of the houses built in Osla village are of wood, which also makes this place different from other tourist places in terms of tourism. The residents of Osla village are very friendly, if possible, do interact with the people of this village.

In Osla village itself, there is a temple of Duryodhana built from the time of Mahabharata, which opens in July and August. Osla village has many homestays where you can stay for the night. And in these homestays, you will also get the arrangement of food.

Day Six Har ki Dun Trek

Osla – Gangad (4 Km Trekking ) – Taluka (8 Km Tracking ) – Sankri (12 Km Drive)

The next day early in the morning you have to leave for Sankri. On leaving Osla to Sankri, the first stop you will come to is Gangad village. The distance from Osla to Gangad village is only 4 km. And the taluka is situated at a walking distance of 08 km from Gangad. From Taluka, you can reach Sankri with the help of a jeep.

Day Seven Har ki Dun Trek

Sankri – Dehradun – Distance 190 Km

This is your last day of the Har Ki Dun trek. On this day, you can reach Dehradun by taking a bus going from Sankri to Dehradun in the morning. You will get the bus, shared taxi and taxi service available from Sankri to Dehradun.

Note:- It is mandatory to have a trekking guide with you during the Har Ki Dun trek. If you do this trek without a trekking guide, then the forest department will not allow you to do this trek. Therefore, before doing the Har Ki Dun trek, you must take a trekking guide with you.

Best Time For Har ki Dun Trek

The trek to Har Ki Dun Valley, located at the foothills of the Swargarohini mountain, can be done throughout the year. By the way, this place shows a different kind of beauty according to the season throughout the year. By the way, from April to June, Har Ki Dun is considered the best for the trek. If you go for this trek in the first week of April, then you can get to see a lot of snow here.

How to Reach Har Ki Dun by Rail

Haridwar, Rishikesh and Dehradun Railway Station are the nearest railway stations to Sankri (Har Ki Dun). These three railway stations are very well connected by rail to all the major cities of India. But most of the people prefer to come to Dehradun Railway Station for Har Ki Dun.

You will get direct bus service from Dehradun to Sankri (Har Ki Dun). Apart from this, you can also reach Sankari (Har Ki Dun) very easily by cabs and shared taxis.

How to Reach Har Ki Dun by Road

It will take you 10 hours to travel from Dehradun to Sankri by bus. Apart from this, you can also reach Sankri with the help of a taxi whose estimated fare is Rs 5000-8000. If you want, you can also go to Sankri with the help of a shared cab but a shared cab drops you at Purola and after that, you have to take a shared cab again from Purola to Sankri.

You will have to spend around 700-800 rupees on shared cabs. And you can reach Sankri by paying only 300-400 rupees on the bus.
